Remote monitoring and control SCADA systems are currently being converted into digital substations in Korea under the leadership of Korea Electric Power Corporation by integrating IT technology into existing substation systems, and most newly built digital substations are applying the IEC61850 communication standard.
IEC61850 Edition 1 began in 2002, and the power systems of recently constructed data centers must operate 24 hours a day without failure. In addition to proactive maintenance and protection of the power system, this IEC61850 international communication protocol should be applied because it enables rapid stabilization of the power system even in unexpected accidents. The following requirements must be supported to complete a true SCADA system.
