The Second Phase of the Janghang Line Improvement Project, implemented by the Korea National Railway (KNR), aims to establish a high-speed rail network along the West Sea axis as part of the 2nd National Railway Network Plan. Its objectives are to promote balanced regional development, secure freight transport routes for the Honam and Jeolla Lines through the realignment of the Daecheon–Ganchi section, and revitalize regional development by expanding trade with China and developing linked routes such as Saemangeum and Gwangyang Port.
Through a competitive bidding process, we were awarded the contract for the lighting control systems of the tunnels and stations within the Janghang Line Phase 2 (Daecheon–Ganchi) section. Deliveries began in early 2020, and the project was successfully completed by the end of that year. The railway stretch between Daecheon and Ganchi spans approximately 25km, including the Nampo 3 Tunnel, which is about 5km long. We successfully executed the interface between the Main Control Units (MCU) and the upper Central Units (CU).
As a national policy project managed by KNR, we leveraged our extensive experience in railway projects to supply, install, and commission the system. Since railway tunnel lighting control panels are installed outdoors, we had to address challenges related to temperature and humidity. Furthermore, we overcame technical hurdles such as exceeding the maximum RS-485 communication limit of 1.2km. By providing a stable system, MR Bass once again demonstrated its superior technology and quality in the field. For instance, we ensured communication reliability over long distances by utilizing our proprietary "Repeater" equipment. Our ability to provide reliable lighting control—proven through the durability of outdoor panels, stable networks, and seamless server interfacing—is the direct result of our long-standing technical expertise, in-house development capabilities, and manufacturing power as a specialized lighting control provider.
